LESSON FLOW

1. Introduce Joseph Smith  Show the First Vision picture. Point to Joseph and say his name together.

2. Bible connection  Hold up the Bible. Say Joseph read that he could pray to know the truth. Have the children pretend to read.

3. Tell the story  Say Joseph went to a grove of trees, knelt to pray, and saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

4. Share Heavenly Father’s words  Say: “This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” Explain that Jesus would bring back His true Church.

5. Tree activity  Let the children stand like trees with arms out. Sway in the wind, then stand very still and quiet when Heavenly Father and Jesus appear.

6. Song & repeat  Sing “On a Golden Springtime” with tree and kneeling actions. Testify that Joseph Smith really saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
